The Challenge
ARC was one of the founding clients of 6i-Infotech (then Jeevan Technologies) — engaged in 2010 to replace a system that had been in use since 1999. The old system was a standalone VB application with Oracle backend, running in offline mode across 284 agencies. Data was synced from individual local databases to the main server via a synchronisation tool — a fragile, error-prone architecture that had accumulated years of data inconsistencies.
The key requirements ARC brought to the table:
| Requirement | Why It Mattered |
|---|---|
| Web-based, always-online access | 284 agencies needed real-time connectivity — offline sync was causing booking disputes |
| User-friendly for non-technical staff | Counter staff and delivery agents needed to operate without IT support |
| Waybill booking and delivery tracking | Core operation — needed end-to-end visibility from booking to delivery |
| Transhipment yard (TR) operations | Complex hub-and-spoke flow: unloading, segregation, TLUS dispatch sheets, complaints |
| Consolidated MIS across all branches | HQ in Coimbatore needed daily visibility into all 11 branches simultaneously |
| Proper accounting integration | Existing FoxPro accounting system needed to continue in parallel with new web ERP |
The Complexity: Transhipment Yard Operations
What set ARC apart from typical logistics clients was the complexity of its transhipment hub (TR) operations. Each TR required:
- Security gate entry/exit logging for every vehicle
- Unloading sheets with labour assignment (4-person unloading teams)
- Consignment verification against waybills on arrival
- Complaint registration for shortage or damaged goods at loading
- TLUS (Trip Loading/Unloading Sheets) as sole authority for vehicle movement
- Lorry Hiring Agreements (LHA) for contracted vehicles
- Separate wage tracking for permanent staff vs. contractual load-men
No off-the-shelf logistics ERP in India handled this level of TR complexity. 6i built it from the ground up — a 19-module system covering every workflow from waybill booking to transhipment dispatch, fleet management, and consolidated MIS reporting.
Solution: 19-Module Web-Based ERP
| Module Category | Modules Included |

Implementation Journey
The ARC engagement began with 4 rounds of on-site system study and demos across 2010–2011, covering Chennai TR operations, Coimbatore HQ, and representative branch locations. Key milestones:
- Apr–May 2011: System study and Phase 1 demo — booking and TR modules
- Jun 2011: Phase 2 system study — MIS and reporting modules
- Jul 2011: Phase 3 & 4 demo — fleet management and accounting integration
- Aug 2011: Full system demo across all 5 days at ARC premises — attended by all stakeholders including COO, CFO, and branch managers
- Sep 2011: UAT initiation with live data from Chennai TR
The complexity of replacing a 25-year-old operational system for a 284-agency network — with no disruption to daily operations — made this one of the most technically demanding logistics ERP deployments in South India at the time.
Why This Matters for Your Business
ARC's engagement with 6i-Infotech represents the deepest possible understanding of South Indian parcel operations — from the counter booking workflow to the transhipment hub labour management to the consolidation of 284 agencies into a single MIS view. This domain knowledge is baked into every version of 6i-eCargo.
When you deploy 6i-eCargo, you are not deploying generic logistics software. You are deploying a system whose architecture was shaped by one of India's most operationally complex parcel networks — refined over 12+ years of real deployments.
